Stephan Eisel, MdB: CDU/CSU Bundestag group celebrates “that shows the still large bond of Union with Bonn as a symbol for a formative and good time in German history. in Bonn That Angela Merkel holds the lecture, underlines the importance of the event. I am pleased that on this occasion many former Union members come back to Bonn.” The Bundestag group of the CDU/CSU has met for their first meeting on September 1, 1949 in the Bonn “Bonn citizens Association”. The building was replaced at the end of the sixties the Hotel Bristol. The first Chairman of the Union group was elected at the inaugural meeting of Konrad Adenauer. At that time, the group comprised 139 members, today there are 222 MPs.

Already in the Frankfurt Economic Council 1947-49 and in the Parliamentary Council of 1948-49, CDU and CSU had formed a group community. The Bonn anniversary meeting of the Union group will take place on August 25 in the previous Chamber of the Bundestag. Fixed speakers include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, parliamentary group leader Volker Kauder and his Deputy, Peter Ramsauer, who is also Chairman and CSU land group. The Bonn political scientist Prof. Hans-Peter Schwarz will present the book “The group as a power factor” to the history of the CDU/CSU group in the Bundestag, issued by him to the anniversary.
